White Eagle Fishing

This image, from an original oil on canvas painting, was used on a poster for the 2007 Summer of Love 40th Anniversary Celebration in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, called the “Gathering of the Tribes.” It was inspired by the historical photography of Edward Sherriff Curtis in the early part of the 20th century. The painting depicts the Piegan and Chinook tribes that peacefully camped along the banks of the Columbia River in the great Pacific Northwest, where salmon jumped out of the river and landed at your feet.
