Patrizia Ryan

Patrizia Ryan was and born and raised in the wineland town of Paarl in the Western Cape of South Africa. Schooled at La Rochelle Girl's High and was fortunate enough to be mentored by Dawid Botha, a famous South African artist renowned for his paintings of the town of Paarl.

She lived  briefly with her young family  in the the beautiful coastal town of Kommetjie in the Western Cape of South Africa where the ocean , mountains and tranquility of the environment were all paramount in the current evolution of her work.

Ryan migrated with her young family to Australia  in 1996, where they started off living in Perth for 18 months and Melbourne for 18 months, before returning to live permanently in Perth.

It was during a period of ill health when she was faced with some enormous challenges, that she began experimenting with art again. Ryan attends regular classes at the Fremantle Arts centre and has gradually built sufficient confidence in her abilities with various media to begin displaying her work.

Motivated by her natural surroundings including the tranquil environment on the Canning River has given this artist an open canvas to explore.  A deep African influence remains and colours of Africa and the Australian landscapes run strongly through much of her work.

Ryan makes regular pilgrimages to visit the works of the great masters and is mainly Influenced by Turner, Da Vinci and Monet.  Europe, Africa, Asia are always on the agenda,  with something new to focus on each time.
